Our main goal for the Tidal prototype was to reinvigorate a sense of personal ownership in an age of digital music. As streaming platforms have taken over, and the tactile album is a relic of the past, it was our goal to create a completely bespoke experience to the digital album - available only to people who purchase it.
We developed the idea of the tidal cube - a more modernized and exploratory take on the album sleeve art - complete with exclusive artist content, 3 dimensional objects, fun easter eggs, and more. The idea is that the user can collect these albums digitally, and permanently own the experience once it is purchased.
Users can browse the album as they listen.
Below are a couple prototype animations we tried in Principal.
