Portal is a video calling device with a smart camera that makes it feel like you're in the same room even though you're miles apart. I've spent several years in Facebooks AR/VR Marketing department helping to develop the visual brand as it appeared in every medium of marketing communications. As Facebook's first native product, there was a huge opportunity to create something completely new, but also true to the brand legacy of Facebook.
The goal for this brand was to capture the authentic, candid, and warm human interactions within the product, and create a graphic language that spoke to it in a modern and clean delivery. Our use of the muted and earth tones helped to speak to this approachability, while the blue circle accents spoke to the Smart Camera, and Portal's brand origin story at Facebook.
